Columbia River Gorge Hike

Yesterday Andrew and I went on a six-mile hike with a group of friends at the Columbia River Gorge. We started out at Multnomah Falls and worked our way up the mountain, across snow-covered trails, past multiple waterfalls, and circled back to our starting point at the lodge.

It was a good three-hour hike (the first hour of which spent hiking completely uphill), there was lots of snow on the trails in the mountain, but I stayed warm with five layers of clothing. :) I was so thankful for my waterproof hiking boots, wool socks, raincoat and the new warm Carhartt pants Andrew insisted I buy. Having the right gear made the trek much more comfortable. Still, I ended up limping back to the lodge because the duration of the hike made my already-injured foot start aching worse.

The group leaders (three teenage boys) set a very fast pace for everyone to follow, so it was either focus on the trail and walk as fast as possible or enjoy the scenery and get left behind. I managed to take a few pictures, but I missed many great opportunities for shots because I had to keep up.

Looks like a very pretty hiking place. We like to hike but not up hill. :-) I've been hearing about your sewing. Waiting patiently for pictures. :-) The loveseat looks great too. Isn't it so nice to get surprises like that? Take care. We miss you!
